In this article, the authors reveal the structural component composition of the ethical competence of a future translator. It is formed on the concept of moral consciousness, principles of professional ethics and a certain set of professionally important qualities. On this basis, a psychological mechanism of action of the ethical competence of a translator is compiled, since in our study, the spiritual development of a translator means his awareness of his high purpose in life, the recognition of responsibility to present and future generations, understanding the complexity of the nature of the creation of the world and a constant desire for moral improvement. The measure of the spiritual development of a translator can be the degree of his responsibility for his physical, mental and social development, and professionally important qualities
