У статті досліджується вплив соціального виключення на соціальну ідентичність людини. З цією метою було проаналізовано роботи закордонних та українських дослідників та виявлено, що останню здебільшого розглядають як особистісний конструкт, який виникає на тлі міжгрупових відмінностей та інгрупової подібності й виражає солідарність людини з груповими нормами, цінностями та ідеалами. Останні можуть змінюватися у процесі життєдіяльності людини під впливом різноманітних викликів та трансформувати соціальну ідентичність людини у позитивному чи негативному напрямку. Так, у випадках наявності у людини внутрішніх ресурсів для розв’язання тих чи інших проблем, чи подолання життєвих викликів, які супроводжуються її виключенням зі звичного соціального середовища, її соціальна ідентичність змінюється у позитивному ключі, а сама вона переходить на новий рівень соціального життя та займає відповідне останньому місце в соціумі. За таких умов зміна її соціальної ідентичності відбувається цілком природно та сприяє формуванню відносно стійких уявлень людини про себе та суспільства про неї. Ці уявлення затверджуються новим соціальним статусом, який позначає роль та місце, які займає індивід соціальній системі згідно з основними сферами соціального життя. Натомість виключення людини зі звичного соціального середовища, унаслідок тих чи інших життєвих викликів (втрата роботи чи житла, окупація регіону, міграція тощо), яке позбавляє людину можливості повною мірою включатися у соціальні процеси й бути повноцінною частиною суспільства, може супроводжуватися не тільки кардинальними змінами у ціннісній системі людини, а й девіантними формами поведінки, які в перспективі призведуть до соціальної ексклюзії
